"Mr.
Weston is six feet tall and 58 years old. He looks a lot younger, perhaps
because he is slim, perhaps because of his spontaneous grin. He has
friendly brown eyes that used to match what is left of his brown hair…
He has a sense of humour, he is witty and he is something of a philosopher."(64)
Profile in the Toronto
Star Weekly, July, 1937
Weston didn’t want humans to interrupt
the rhythm of his landscape paintings, but many people, especially his
students, responded to his warm personality. He taught 9000 students
until he retired in 1946, training other teachers how to teach art.(65)
"Some of his students once recalled:
‘He took us all by storm…we fell in love with the old rascal…he had
us worshipping at his feet…he had encouragement even for the untalented."(66)
